As a Barcelona local, I love to find hidden gems off the beaten track, away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist trail.

Restaurante Suchart’s, just a hop, skip and a jump from Gran Via 2 shopping centre and Fira Barcelona, deserves each and every one of its glowing five-star reviews.

Suchart’s is an unpretentious restaurant where you’ll feel at home, like one of the l’Hospitalet locals – while enjoying premium quality food at an extremely reasonable price.

The staff are wonderful and attentive, and make a real effort to give their customers a great experience.

Upon arriving we were seated at a table opposite the long bar, and we opted for a selection of tapas followed by the Suchart’s XL gourmet burger.

Phenomenal tapas

Chef Ivan has lovingly perfected each of Suchart’s tapas dishes based on what has been most popular with their loyal clientele. Ivan truly pays attention to what his customers want, and has gone above and beyond to deliver that.

First of all, Suchart’s patatas bravas are easily some of the best I’ve had in Barcelona – little wonder they have been nominated on Bravas BCN. Perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside – their famous Salsa Brava is made from over 30 ingredients including cayenne, honey, orange juice and jalapeño paste.

Next up were the delicious octopus croquettes, which had a crunchy batter with a soft and flavoursome filling.

To round off the tapas, we had pinchos morunos – tender enough to melt in the mouth.

Deluxe burgers

Having enjoyed a generous selection of great quality tapas, we moved on to try Suchart’s artisan burgers – deciding to order one chicken and one beef burger that we split between us.

The juicy gourmet burgers are cooked over a volcanic stone barbecue which produces a mouth-watering, light smoked flavour.

These generous burgers are a sure favourite!

Homemade desserts

Feeling positively full, it felt slightly indulgent to have a dessert – but we couldn’t help ourselves! We each opted for a different one of their whipped mascarpone homemade delights – a special tiramisu with ground coffee and chocolate, and a smooth, fruits of the forest creamy mousse. A deliciously sweet way to round off an outstanding meal.

Bespoke creations each week

Suchart’s provides a homely ambiance where the talented Chef Ivan showcases his bespoke creations each week. He is a true professional, taking traditional dishes and giving them an innovative twist with a fusion of flavours, spices and aromas. You can really taste Ivan’s passion for quality, thanks to the carefully selected ingredients he uses into the food at Suchart’s.

Suchart’s is ideal for locals and visitors who are seeking friendly, great quality food at a very reasonable price.

If you’re looking to shake up the norm, definitely consider dining at Suchart’s for an unforgettable experience.
